House of Cards, or One Brick?

I had a bit of a strange picture, recently.

There was a building site, and during a break time, one builder, took out a deck of cards, and started to make a tower with the cards he had.
At first, he could only ever make small towers, so it was just a bit of fun, that was soon put away, when break time was over. But as he got better, his towers became more impressive. Until one quiet day, when there was no wind, he managed to make an awesome house of cards. (Which the builder knew, was going to have to come down, as he was building it on the wall, which he was building, but others were wanting to preserve in some way.)

When break time is over, will we be willing to clear the decks, and place one good solid brick, in it’s right place, or will we want to carry on with building our own impressive house of cards, which will inevitably come down at some point in time?

If we are on a break time, then there can be nothing wrong with having a bit of fun and building up a house of cards, but when break time is over, it’s going to be so much more productive to place one brick in it’s correct place, rather than carry on with our bit of fun, and keep on building a house of cards.

What matters more to us?
Carrying on with our house of cards?
Or, placing one well positioned brick, into Our Lord Gods house and His purposes?
