What is our expectations, when it comes to the things of God?
Do we have an expectant heart, that is looking for, waiting, hoping for more?
When we look at Gideon, in Judges 6, we can see from his response to the angel of the Lord, that he remembers what he has been told of old, and is wanting and hoping for more.
Judges 6:11-13
11 The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. 12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”
13 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
From verse 13, we can see that Gideon, has been told about the past of the Israelites, and that he believes it to be true. Further more, we can also see that, he has the question of, “Why is our experience so different, why aren’t we seeing the goodness of God, in our time?”
It appears to me, that Gideon, was looking for, wanting, and hoping, to see the goodness of God, in his, here and now.
Could this be part of the reason, (whether large or small) of why God chose Gideon, to lead Israel, for the time, that he did?
Gideon, followed God’s leading, and he saw God’s goodness, in his time.
When it comes to our lives, what are we looking, waiting, hoping to see?
Are we looking to fulfill our own hopes and desires?
Or, are we trying to align our thoughts, with Our Lord God’s thoughts?
Matthew 6:19-21
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

When it comes to our expectations, I have been challenged on this, with regards to, how much do I believe that God will heal my wife?
I know that He can do it.
I’ve read about it in the bible.
I’ve heard about it happening in our world today, in other places.
But, me and my wife, are still waiting for it to be our time.
We try to wait, with our expectations remaining high, but we also have to live, in the here and now.
It feels like it can be a bit of a balancing act, living with the two aspects.
A previous post looks a bit into the thought of, How we try to wait, while Waiting for my wife to be Healed.
