Wrong Thinking, Because of Outside Influence?

As I was reading the Bible, a thought, about a totally different passage came to me. It kind of went, “Can we sometimes get into trouble, because we follow an example, from a source, that we should not be following?”

The Bible passage that the thought came from was, when the Ark of The Lord, was placed onto a cart, which then caused things to go very wrong. (As can be read in,2 Samuel 6:1-11)

We can see that David didn’t make the same mistake twice from…

1 Chronicles 15:11-15

11 Then David summoned Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel and Amminadab the Levites. 12 He said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families; you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it. 13 It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.” 14 So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel. 15 And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord.

So we can see that David followed The Lords instructions on the second attempt, but what happened on the first attempt?
Why was The Ark, on a cart, in the first place?

It was the Philistines who first put the ark on a cart. (1 Samuel 6:1-18)
Now, the Philistines had a need to do this, in order to return the Ark, as it was causing them a measure of trouble.
So, we could possibly be seeing the Philistines doing a correct thing, by putting The Ark, onto a cart, in order to return it back to Israel, even though it was the wrong way to move The Ark. (The Philistines didn’t have the correct instructions or ability to carry out the instructions.)

But did the people of Israel, then see the Ark on a cart, and then, did they follow the example that the Philistines, showed to Israel?

Did their incorrect actions happen, because they followed, an outside influence, even though they had the correct instructions, that they should have been following?

Can we find ourselves acting in a similar way?
Do we allow ourselves to be influenced by outside thinking?
(Or even just wrong thinking?)

Will we know what it is, that we should be doing, before we fall into a bigger trouble, that then could bring about a correction to us?

Will we listen to what Our Lord is God speaking to us and follow where He is leading for us to go, before we fall into a bigger trouble, that brings about such a correction?

John 10:27-28

27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

I thought that I’d finished, then I read in the Bible…

Psalm 119:65-72

ט Teth

65 Do good to your servant
    according to your word, Lord.
66 Teach me knowledge and good judgment,
    for I trust your commands.
67 Before I was afflicted I went astray,
but now I obey your word.
68 You are good, and what you do is good;
    teach me your decrees.
69 Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,
I keep your precepts with all my heart.
70 Their hearts are callous and unfeeling,
but I delight in your law.
71 It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn your decrees.
72 The law from your mouth is more precious to me
than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

A search on YouTube for the below should find it.
Do you know why God would not allow Uzzah to “help” by touching the Ark?
