Can we be so Dry, that we can’t take in the Water?

I was watering a few plants, that had been a bit neglected recently.
One or two were a bit on the dry side, to the extent, that the water just poured straight into and out of the pot.

It got me thinking, if we remove ourselves from the Goodness of Our Lord God, then can we become so dry, that if we go and try for a quick drenching, that we find, we can’t take anything in?
Could this then lead us thinking,
“What’s the point of all this! It’s just not working.” ???

The good news is, that my plants were not beyond recovery!!

For the best results, the water flow can be slowed down, and kept flowing for longer. Gradually, the plant pots will start to take in the water again.
It just takes a bit of patience and persistence.

If we find ourselves, in a place of dryness, with Our Lord God, then can we try to add a measure of patience and persistence, to our actions, of seeking Him, and His Goodness?

Our Lord God, is actively waiting for the prodigal to return.
He seeks out His lost sheep.
Will we endeavour to do our bit, and seek Him and His Goodness, all the days of our lives?

Psalm 81:13-16
13 “If my people would only listen to me,
if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
